Reimagining ASEAN’s Emergence from the Pandemic

As ASEAN leaders gear up for stronger cooperation within the region to curb the virus and mitigate its economic fallout, their success will be mixed. Social Commerce in Vietnam & ASEAN

While e-commerce still reigns supreme in Vietnam, social commerce has been quietly rising as a formidable contender - due to the fragmented nature of the country’s retail and services sectors. Social commerce has garnered 43% of the market, with Facebook, Instagram, and homegrown super-app Zalo as the top three platforms.

Opportunities to build new social-led business models in Vietnam and across ASEAN are limitless, especially as startups unlock higher value categories, new consumer segments and progress in logistics and payments further enable the social-commerce ecosystem.
